Goddard's Law Goes Into Effect Today; Aimed To Reduce Violence Against Animals

A law named after famed Cleveland weatherman Dick Goddard has gone into effect today.

"Goddard's Law," named after Cleveland weatherman Dick Goddard, has gone into effect on September 13, 2016. The law increases the nature of the charge of animal abuse where serious physical harm is inflicted to a companion animal. The law is also known as House Bill 274.

The law also increases the felony level and mandatory prison time associated with assaults against police dogs.
