State v. Neal Summit County – In a case that received international media coverage, Adam represented an Akron pastor charged with Kidnapping, Felonious Assault, and Abduction.  After extensive negotiations with the special prosecutors assigned to the case, and after extensive investigation by Attorney VanHo, the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor with the client receiving only a small fine and short-term probation.

State v. HaydenPortage County – Attorney VanHo represented a boyfriend charged with Felonious Assault against his girlfriend.  Following a detailed investigation of the case and confrontation of the State’s complaining witness, not only were all charges were dismissed against the Adam’s client, but the State’s complaining witness was charged with Perjury for her fictitious testimony before the Grand Jury. 

State v. McKenney Cuyahoga County – Attorney VanHo represented an individual in Cuyahoga County charged with Kidnapping, Attempted Rape, and Gross Sexual Imposition.  Despite threats by the prosecutor to indict the Defendant with charges that carried a mandatory life sentence, following an extensive investigation by Attorney VanHo, the charges were reduced to one misdemeanor count with a short-term period of probation and no sexual registration requirements being imposed against the client.

State v. Smith Summit County – In a highly-publicized trial, Adam represented a Summit County man accused of numerous crimes, including Aggravated Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Tampering with Evidence.  While the Defendant was ultimately convicted after a jury trial, as a result of Adam’s preparation and legal skill, the client was acquitted of the lead count of the indictment – Aggravated Murder – which dramatically reduced the client’s sentence.

State v. BaileyWayne County – Adam represented a Wayne County man accused of Domestic Violence.  After interviewing a number of witnesses and demonstrating to the jury that the alleged victim’s injuries were inconsistent with her original statements to the police, Adam obtained one of the  fastest defense verdicts in the county.  It took the jury approximately twenty minutes to find the client “not guilty”.

State v. W.W.Summit County – Adam represented an eighteen year old man accused of drug possession and Tampering with Evidence in Summit County.  As a result of his investigation and cross-examination of the arresting officers, Adam was able to demonstrate that the State’s theory of the events and was inconsistent with the actual evidence in the case.  The jury found Adam’s client “not guilty” in under an hour, and his record in this case has since been sealed.

State v. Broom – In a case that received national and international attention, Adam represented the State of Ohio in litigation in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio surrounding the attempted execution of Rommell Broom.   The case was covered by such media outlets as the New York Times, CNN, the British Broadcasting Company (BBC), and every major newspaper in Ohio.

Firestone Four – In a case that was covered by the Akron Beacon Journal, Adam represented four Buchtel High School students who were ruled by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OSHAA) to be ineligible to play athletics during their senior year.  Following a full hearing, Attorney VanHo was able to get the students athletic eligibility reinstated and they were able to play football during their senior year at Akron’s Ellet High School.
