STATE VS NEAL
In a case that received national and international media coverage, Adam represented an Akron pastor charged with Kidnapping, Felonious Assault, and Abduction. After extensive negotiations with the special prosecutors assigned to the case, and after extensive investigation by Attorney VanHo, the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor with the client receiving only a small fine and short-term probation.
STATE VS BROOM
In a case that received national and international attention, Adam represented the State of Ohio in litigation in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio surrounding the attempted execution of Rommell Broom. The case was covered by such media outlets as the New York Times, CNN, the British Broadcasting Company (BBC), and every major newspaper in Ohio.
STATE VS GAUDER
In a highly-publicized case that attracted national attention, Attorney Adam VanHo represented a Coverntry Township man accused of badly burning his infant son. After conducting an extensive investigation, which determined that there was no way the client could have caused the injuries, and then threatening to proceed with the trial, Adam was able to convince prosecutors to offer his client a stipulated polygraph, which the client passed. The charges were dismissed, and the client’s co-defendant later confessed that the client had nothing to do with the child’s injuries.
STATE VS HAYDEN
Attorney VanHo represented a boyfriend charged with Felonious Assault against his girlfriend. Following a detailed investigation of the case and confrontation of the State’s complaining witness, not only were all charges dismissed against the client, but the State’s complaining witness was charged and convicted with Perjury for her fictitious testimony before the Grand Jury.

What should I do if charged with manslaughter? If charged with manslaughter, seek legal counsel immediately from a knowledgeable criminal defense attorney. Refrain from discussing the case with anyone other than your lawyer to avoid self-incrimination. Follow your attorney's advice, attend all court appearances, and provide any relevant information that may assist in your defense. An experienced lawyer will guide you through the legal process and work to achieve the best possible outcome.

How does manslaughter differ from murder?Manslaughter and murder both involve the killing of a person, but they differ in intent and premeditation. Murder requires intent to kill or cause serious harm, and often involves premeditation. Manslaughter lacks these elements, either because the act was done in the heat of passion or due to negligent behavior. This absence of malice aforethought generally results in a lesser charge and punishment for manslaughter compared to murder.
-
Can manslaughter charges affect future employment?Manslaughter charges and convictions can have a significant impact on future employment opportunities. Many employers conduct background checks and may be hesitant to hire individuals with criminal records, especially involving serious charges like manslaughter. However, some employers may consider the nature of the offense, time elapsed, and evidence of rehabilitation. Legal assistance and rehabilitation programs can help address these impacts.

What are examples of voluntary manslaughter?Voluntary manslaughter occurs when a person kills intentionally but without premeditation or malice, often in the heat of passion. Examples include killing someone in a sudden quarrel or in response to being provoked. The circumstances leading to the killing typically mitigate the defendant's culpability, distinguishing it from murder. Each situation is unique, so the context of the incident plays a key role in these cases.
